What is CharacterWorks?

CharacterWorks is a faith-based non-profit 501(c)3 after-school theater program that has been offering classes, camps and productions for students age 6-18 since 2001.

CharacterWorks is based around three foundational programs: theater arts classes, Broadway-style shows, and musical theater summer camps. During the fall, winter, and spring, students are invited to enroll in one of our musical theater-inspired classes in 8-week sessions. Students enrolled in classes for ages 8-18 are eligible to audition for one of the mainstage productions in the corresponding session. Then, summer brings a variety of musical theater day camps for campers ages 6-18.

The purpose of all of these programs is to educate and encourage children’s gifts and talents in the arts, and to instill in them biblical Christian values and an awareness of their relationship with God through Jesus.

Our Mission

CharacterWorks is dedicated to the mission of honoring Christ, building character, and creating community through quality theater arts education and productions. We believe in pursuing the highest standards of quality in all that we do because we believe that best reflects the God we serve.

Values and Objectives

  • Pointing people to a life-changing relationship with God through Jesus.
  • Placing the maximum worth on people and treating each individual with respect and significance.
  • Developing character values in individuals including commitment, discipline, confidence, and integrity.
  • Building a community of families through the direct involvement of each family member’s talents, interests, and abilities.
  • Providing a quality product within a safe, wholesome environment.

Love Christ, Love Others

Since our inception over twenty years ago, we have welcomed all children and families to participate in our classes, camps and shows. Following the example of Jesus, we seek to love others unconditionally and give all glory to God as we do.

Our Statement of Faith clarifies our biblical worldview that has directed CharacterWorks since 2001. Like other faith-based organizations, it is both our privilege and duty to publicly set forth the beliefs that guide our operations and our ministry. It is important that all who support and participate in our organization have a clear understanding of the beliefs and principles held by our founders and our Board of Directors. It is not intended nor is there an expectation that our patrons, students, and families identify with these statements, however we do ask students and volunteers to honor a Code of Conduct while at CharacterWorks.

Our Statement reflects God's command to love one another, affording everyone compassion, love, kindness, respect and dignity following Christ’s example.

"Our girls have gained so much self confidence through CharacterWorks. They love taking classes, being a part of the big shows and watching them as well!”
