CharacterWorks - Theater Productions

CharacterWorks produces up to eight musicals every year, each having a cast of 50-80 students. These students learn what it means to be dedicated to a goal and pursue excellence. Producing shows of high quality teaches students how to work to achieve their highest potential and provides quality family-friendly entertainment for the Richmond community.

"Yes, CWorks produces outstanding shows on stage and I am ever so grateful to have been a part of that in 45 productions. More than that happens though. So much more. I learned that no matter my role on stage, the most important part that I was able to play during a show was the person I was behind the curtain. I felt the impact of this when I was a young student in shows by those who mentored and showed kindness and compassion, so much so that I kept that with me through all of my shows and did my best to instill that with younger students as both a mentor and teacher. Sharing my experiences by teaching sign dance and choreography in my final year allowed me to share His light beyond the stage to hopefully leave a lasting mark and spread to others - just like it did for me. Quality Performances

"When our family moved into the Moseley area we became neighbors with two active CharacterWorks kids. Their enthusiasm about CharacterWorks was contagious, particularly for our youngest daughter. We decided to attend one of the performances to see what CharacterWorks was about and what the shows were like. Were we surprised in the best way!! My husband and I have had the opportunity to see several shows professionally done in many places. When I say that we were mesmerized by the CharacterWorks production, it is not an understatement! The sets and costumes were beautiful!  The acting was terrific. The singing and choreography fantastic. We thrilled to the quality of the production all the way home.  CharacterWorks was absolutely dedicated to a top notch production that rivaled a Broadway production. The commitment to excellence is stellar. The attention to detail resolute. We got our money’s worth and then some. Immediately we signed up for classes for our daughter. That was 8 years ago. She continues to this day to do classes, auditions, and shows. CharacterWorks has been a huge blessing in presenting great theater performances and in training the musical theater talents of our daughter and many others! Just this week one of our friends attended the current production of Elf JR. He made it a point to locate us and said, 'I can’t believe how professional this was! It is almost as good as Broadway!'
