Spring Class registration opens February 1st at 5PM.

CharacterWorks offers a wide variety of classes in drama, voice, dance, and specialty theater training during fall, winter and spring sessions. Classes are a great way for students to gain valuable theater arts training, develop confidence and make life-long friends!

About Classes

Each class lasts for two hours and runs for 8 weeks. All children ages 4-19 (by the last day of class) may register. The cost for an 8-week session is $225 per student. A $25 sibling discount is offered (so the second child $200, third child $175, etc.). The $225 tuition fee includes a class t-shirt and weekly snacks. Students enrolled in classes who are ages 8-19 by the end of the class session are then eligible to audition for the current main-stage productions (The winter audition signup links will be included in the Winter Class Registration Confirmation email)
Classes currently meet two different nights in the Richmond area for each 8-week fall, winter and spring session:
  • Tuesdays (4:30-6:30 p.m. or 6:45-8:45 p.m.) at Gayton Baptist Church (West End)
  • Thursdays (5:00-7:00 p.m.) at KingsWay Community Church (Midlothian)

"I cannot express my gratitude for this experience enough. It has not only helped develop my knowledge of theater and my acting skills, but it has also helped me develop as a person."

CWorks Alumni

During the final class week, each class presents a ten-minute showcase for the other students as well as for family and friends during their normal class time. Each student participates in the showcase and has a chance to perform, giving others the chance to see a sampling of the skills they have developed in their class. Showcase night is an exciting night filled with a variety of performances from students of all ages.

CharacterWorks teachers are highly-qualified in the fields they teach. Each teacher abides by CharacterWorks’ mission to honor Christ, build character, and create community through quality theatre arts education and productions. CWorks teachers truly care for their students and seek to provide a warm, encouraging environment in which students can explore and develop their talents and character.

Academy Classes

CharacterWorks Academy classes are year-long, application/audition-only classes that offer more focused curriculum and training. Each June, students have a chance to apply online and gain acceptance before regular class registration opens on July 1st. Students will enroll for the full year (fall, winter, and spring sessions) and perform a 10-15-minute showcase in the fall and winter, with an extended full performance at the CharacterWorks Academy Festival in the spring, the weekend of June 29-30, 2020 (with tech rehearsals on June 26-28, 2020).
