Description

Will you save the day or steal the spotlight? In this exciting Vocal Performance class, students will explore unforgettable hero and villain songs, both individually and as an ensemble, from the world of musical theater, building a strong foundation for auditions and performance. Through vocal technique, musicality, harmony, and acting through song, performers will learn how to bring each character to life through song with confidence and expression, taking their vocal and musical theater skills to the next level!

*Please note: This fall session is 7 weeks instead of 8 due to the production tech week schedule. To ensure students receive the same total number of instructional hours, each class has been extended by 15 minutes.

Olivia Burns

Olivia is a classically trained soprano and voice teacher. She holds a Master of Music in Voice Performance from Texas Tech University and a BM in Voice Performance from Baldwin Wallace University. She also teaches voice at Brightpoint Community College as an Adjunct Professor of Music. A performer and CharacterWorks alumna herself, she has performed in opera, musical theater, and choral productions. Some of her recent roles include Kate McGowan in Titanic: the Musical, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, and Lucy in a children’s opera of The Billy Goats Gruff. Olivia’s life was radically changed by the Gospel as a child, and it’s her joy to display Gospel truth through theater and music.
